We are a detail-oriented, investigative, and enterprising department and put emphasis on providing holistic patient care while ensuring optimal patient safety. We believe in patiently functioning during high-pressure situations and thrive on the reward of being able to provide critical, lifesaving, and wholesome attention to the requirements of our patients. We strive towards continuous academic growth, staying up to date on the latest techniques, procedures, agents, and equipment as well as ensuring the evidence-based practice of modern anesthesiology and critical care. The department of anesthesiology and critical care offers the following state-of-the-art services-
General Anesthesia
Around 4700 cases of major, intermediate, and minor surgeries are performed every year under general anesthesia. This includes procedures like arthroplasties, arthroscopies, laparotomies, laparoscopies, etc. We use the best available and modern-day airway management techniques, the most recently developed drugs available in the country along with up to date technology in our contemporary mechanical ventilators.
Total Intravenous Anesthesia
Intermediate and minor procedures like orthopedic and plastic surgical debridement along with general surgical and urologic procedures are often done under total intravenous anesthesia. Approximately the number reaches around 2000 per year.
Monitored Anesthesia Care or Intravenous Sedation
Often used for minimally invasive procedures like endoscopies, colonoscopies, MRI, etc., and sometimes combined with local or regional anesthesia.
Regional Anesthesia
This includes around 2000 cases of neuraxial blocks like subarachnoid and epidural blocks as well as around 800 cases of USG-guided peripheral nerve blocks for major, intermediate and minor procedures. These are being done as a mode of primary anesthesia or as an adjunct to general anesthesia.
