After completing his medical education in 1996 from India, Dr. Lakhey joined Bir Hospital briefly and then worked as a full time physician in Scheer Memorial Hospital, Banepa from 1996 to 1999. Since 1999, he has been working as a consultant physician providing specialist Internal Medicine Care, and since 2001 critical care at B&B Hospital. He has also been providing diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI and colonoscopy services since 1999. Currently, he is Chief of Internal Medicine services and is also the President of Nepalese Society of Critical Care Medicine (NSCCM).

He obtained both MBBS and MD internal medicine from institute of medicine, Tribhuvan University, Maharajgunj. Soon after finishing MD internal medicine in 2003, he was invited by Xin Xiang medical university, Henan Province, PR China, as a visiting faculty where he taught undergraduate medical student and had good clinical exposure in university hospital for two years (2003-2005). He came back to Nepal in 2005, and joined Kathmandu University medical school (Dhulikhel Hospital). He worked there as a full time internal medicine physician/ lecturer for two years. After coming back to Kathmandu in 2007, he joined Manmohan memorial community hospital, Thamel as a full time consultant physician in department of medicine. Since 2008 to till the date he has been working in department of medicine, B&B Hospital as a full time consultant physician. He is devoted to general internal medicine which encompasses all the subspecialties of medicine. Addressing patient’s problems is not always straight forward. It needs multi-disciplinary correlation and intervention. General internal medicine can play the pivotal role in such complex situations. Currently the area of his work is hospital medicine and primary care, both. He has good skill of communication with patient, his co-workers and collogues of other departments or specialties. His area of special interest is diabetes mellitus. He has attended many national and international conferences on Diabetes. He has done Specialist course on diabetes from international diabetes federation IDF, school of diabetes.
